Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ's at Middle England Farm for our Alpaca Walking, Animal Experiences and about our Farm

Can my children walk on their own?
No, all children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Under no circumstances can children be left unaccompanied. Under 10s must share an alpaca with an adult. Over 10s can walk their own alpaca but an adult must also walk and supervise their child.

Our lower age limit is strictly five. Children under the age of one can attend in a back carrier if their parents are attending with an older child. Parents should consider if they can help a small child and safely walk an alpaca before booking.  Pushchairs are strictly forbidden for safety reasons.
Can I change my date?
We do not offer changes of date or times under any circumstances so please ensure you can make the date you book.
Is the walking experience just for kids?
Absolutely not! Over three quarters of our visitors are adults, it's great fun for all ages! Our oldest guest was in her 80s!
All walkers regardless of age should be competent, stable walkers and able to navigate uneven ground in potentially muddy conditions without any walking aids.
Why can't my SAT NAV find you?
We're a little off grid so SAT NAV's don't find us once you're in the local area. We always send out our address and advice on how to find us with every order confirmation. We advise planning your route in advance to avoid getting lost. If you type 'Middle England Farm Alpacas' into Google Maps BEFORE leaving home you should get a good idea of our location.
Can we bring a picnic?
Hello I’m sorry we do not have the facilities. We can recommend local places to eat if you ask your tour guide. .
Do you do parties?
We're more than happy for you to bring your celebration to us! We offer discounts for large groups, please contact us for details. You can bring your own food for afterwards. This needs to be booked well in advance as it's gets very busy! We can't permit unplanned picnics so please do remember to get in touch as soon as you have a date!

Can I buy a souvenir and do you have a cafe?
We have plenty of great priced souvenirs in our shop area. We also sell fresh free range organic eggs, alpaca poo fertiliser and natural rabbit forage. We do not have a cafe.
Are you Covid Secure?
We take our guests and staff's safety very seriously. We have carried out a risk assessment and put many measures in place to keep everyone safe. These are constantly updated as government advice is published. As a totally outdoor venue and with strict measures in place we are proud to be a Covid Secure Business.
What does a spectator ticket include?
Spectators enjoy the farm with participating adults but do not walk an alpaca or goat etc.
What footwear should I wear?
Wellies or walking boots are a must! Even in the summer the ground can be wet and muddy. Trainers are not suitable in winter - you will get very wet and uncomfortable! If you wear very unsuitable shoes such as sandals or flip flops, we reserve the right to cancel your walk and no refund will be due.
Can I bring a puschchair/wheelchair?
The ground is not suitable for pushchairs as it's often wet and muddy in places.  Therefore we do not allow pushchairs.

Likewise the ground is also not suitable for wheelchair users as it's often wet and muddy and is always bumpy. The walk takes place through fields and around lakes and there aren’t any pathways for the entire walk, so sadly we cannot accomodate wheelchair users at this time.
I don't have a PayPal account to pay with, what should I do?

You don't need a PayPal account to pay. Simply click on 'pay by PayPal' then 'Check out as guest'. This allows you to pay using your debit/credit card. This feature is sometimes not available on phones and tablets, so you will need to book via a PC or Mac.
Can I visit just the farm?
No, we are open by appointment only. Please do not just turn up, we will not be able to accommodate you.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes it's essential to book in advance, we don't take walk-ins. We get booked up very quickly so we advise you book as far in advance as possible.
Can I walk around the farm unaccompanied?
This is our family home  so guests are not permitted to walk around the grounds and gardens unaccompanied. Please ensure you keep a close eye on your children. Thank you.
