2022 Meerkats and more!

2022 Meerkat Arrival

The end of 2021 saw the arrival of Zola, Zahara and Nala - three beautiful meerkats who arrived thanks to my friend Emma, who had a few too many girls in her mob.

Meerkats had long been on our list of 'wants' but it's never as simple as just saying 'yes'. Meerkats aren't your normal farm animal and need very different care to keep them healthy and happy, which is why we took our time to ensure 'home' was perfect before welcoming the girls. Many hours of research needed to be done and a lot of preparation.

Once we felt 'home' was ready, the girls arrived. Naturally, they were a little shy to begin with, so the early days were all about settling them in, ensuring they were comfortable and felt safe and of course well fed! With a selection of fresh fruit, veg and insects at the ready, we soon began to see what our little mob enjoyed and didn't enjoy. It wasn't too much longer before they were starting to climb on our laps with that inquisitive look in their eye that we have started to love! - big time!

This week saw the official start to their 'engagements' after many weeks of settling them, and I have to say they are sooooo happy to be taking guests once again! Within minutes they were on the guests laps enjoying their treats and even the occasional stroke!
